A Life Lived On Purpose Community Care is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the optimal holistic health and wellness of Black women, advancing the overall health and well-being of Black families and communities. This is achieved by providing holistic health and wellness education and skills training to Black women who have limited or no access to such services and education due to inaccessibility, financial limitations, and or time constraints. All of the materials and services developed and implemented by A Life Lived On Purpose Community Care are Black woman centered. Other women are welcome to participate in the programming if they are a part of the organization(s) or communities being served.
How our mission and purpose are achieved:
A Life Lived On Purpose Community Care utilizes the Black Women's Holistic Health and Wellness Group curriculum, to provide participants with information, strategies, and support in integrating lifelong holistic health and wellness lifestyle practices, all while centering the Black woman experience, which addresses the challenges to living easeful, joyful, healthy lives due to living in a racialized and gender oppressive society.
During the 12-week program, participants explore how purposeful action in the areas of mindful awareness, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, rest and relaxation, meaningful academic/career pursuits, relationships, finances, environment, spirituality, conventional medical care, and complementary care, can improve overall health, wellbeing, and life satisfaction. Sessions include gentle movement, breath practices, and mindfulness meditation. Participants are provided with activities to complete between sessions to support introspection and the integration of materials discussed in session. Guest speakers with an expertise in the various areas of the program content, such as fitness and health professionals, are invited to assist participates in deepening their knowledge and integration of the information presented.
